TACT is a text-analysis and retrieval system for MS-DOS that permits inquiries on text databases in European languages. It has been developed by a team of programmers, designers, and textual scholars including John Bradley, Ian Lancashire, Lidio Presutti, and Michael Stairs. It was begun under the IBM-University of Toronto Cooperative in the Humanities during 1986-89. The manual has been published by the Modern Language Association of America.
