The slide collections of John Ackland and Jim Abrams are rich in their content, but some topics within the history of science and technology clearly took their imagination. Stillman Drake Collection Stillman Drake, the formost Galileo Scholar left his world-class colleciton of books, prints, and manuscripts to the Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library at the University of Toronto.

Gaspar Schott's

A collection of the plates of mechanical devices from Schott's impopratant work which popularized Von Guericke's and Boyle's work on pneumatics, as well as surveying various other topics, like hydraulics, automata, and clocks

Otto von Guericke's
Magdeburg Hemispheres
One of the seminal set of experiements on pneumatics, von Guericke showed that air pressure was a very stong force indeed.

Robert Boyle's air pump, designed and built by Robert Hooke, provided the first large volume for low-pressure research.
